PLEASE READ this FAQ on kits

The ASM (Analogue Synth Module) is a combination of the basic building blocks required for most analogue synthesisers.


The original ASM-1 contained a fairly standard arrangement of traditional analogue synthesiser modules, in what can be considered a compromise between simplicity and usefulness. The circuit sections are:
2 x Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCO's)
1  x Voltage Controlled State Variable Filter (VCF)
2 x Voltage Controlled Amplifiers (VCA's)
2 x ADSR Envelope Generators
1 x Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO)
1 x Noise Source
1 x CV Glide Buffer

The current ASM-2 expands on this a little by adding enhancements tot he existing modules and adding a few more utility modules to the mix.
The ASM-3 will expand this even further to provide all the elements for a COMPLETE analogue synthesiser.

ASM-1


The ASM-1 PCB is no longer available

The original from Gene Stopp. The ASM-1 contains a fairly standard arrangment of traditional analog synthesizer modules, in what can be considered a compromise between simplivity and usefulness. The circuit sections are:

2 x Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCO's)
Sawtooth and variable rectangular outputs

1 x Voltage Controlled State Variable Filter (VCF)
Lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch outputs

2 x Voltage Controlled Amplifiers (VCA's)
Linear response

2 x ADSR Envelope Generators
Exponential curves

1 x Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO)
Triangle and square outputs

1 x Noise Source
White, pink and random outputs

1 x CV Glide Buffer
Linear or exponential glide

ASM-2

The ASM-2 is an upgrade to the ASM-1 and includes additional modules as well enhancements to some of the original modules. Each module on the ASM-2 pcb is self-contained (only shares power rails) allowing the builder to customise their system build as they see fit. Like its predecessor, the ASM-2 can be built as a modular, semi-patched or a hard-wired system.

The ASM-2 comprises the following modules:-
2 x VCO,
2 x VCF (1 x State Variable, 1 x Low-pass Transistor),
2 x VCA,
2 x VCLFO,
2 x ADSR,
1 x Glide Generator,
1 x Ring Modulator,
1 x Analogue Noise Generator,
1 x Sample & Hold.

ASM2-Cougar

The ASM2-Cougar provides a complete ASM-2 solution in the form of a fully patchable synth. In addition to the functions offered by the ASM-2 itself the ASM2-Cougar adds a MIDI-CV Converter, a Pulse Divider and a power supply.

The ASM-2 Cougar presents a portable 6U 84HP design for the ASM-2 offering extensive modular capabilities. The panel (not suitable for 19" rack mounting) is designed to fit on to our new low-profile (85mm) 6U 84HP boat offering the user a portable, powerful analogue synth.

The ASM-2 Cougar uses the following items:-

ASM2-Wizard

The ASM2-Wizard is a 5U format semi-patched build of the ASM-2. The ASM2-Wizard as a 4-voice MIDI-CV Interface to the functions offered by the ASM-2.

ASM-VCO Core

The classic ASM VCO as a core assembly. Simply add input connectors and your preferences in wave shaping circuits for a high-quality, stable sawtooth-based VCO.
+/-15VDC and +/-12VDC options are offered.
Connection to/from the assembly is via a 14-way DIP socket.
