The PSU-5 is designed to run from a 12V SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) Battery and generates +/-12V Power rails making an ideal solution to powering your system out in the field.
Two build options exist for the PSU-5:
- Non-post lineraly regulated: this option provides the output direct from the SMPS module. This allows for a slightly higher maximum output capacity but means the power rails also have slightly higher Ripple and poorer Load Regulation
- Post linearly regulated: this option includes post linear regulators and offers better Load regulation and lower Ripple levels. The maximum output capacity is limited by the regulators.
Our Component Kits do not include the DC/DC regulator module which you should select from the list. This approach allows you to better tailor the output capacity of both the +12V and -12V rails while keeping an eye on the budget. This table shows the output specifications for the different DC/DC regulator variants. NB: You can use different variants in the same build.
