The Dual-Channel Stereo Mixer (DCSM) Is a much improved Alternative Output VCA/Mixer/Panner featuring true synth VCA's, specifically designed to sound best for making music. It replaces the former CGS101 DCSM offering smoother responses over the full 0-5V range of envelope control. There are no blind spots, the sound is full-throated, not explosive or hard to control, and when the VCA is off, it is completely silent.

There are applications that require a smaller 2" panel layout and the design presented here achiieves that requirement..

The DCSM has 2 independent channels for stereo panning. Each channel has 2 VC inputs, one for amplitude control and one for panning, so that if a single control voltage is used, the output signals will pan in opposite directions.

The outputs are available at 2 pairs of jacks which can be configured as the builder requires. Options are:-

• banana jacks for routing signals to other modues within the synthesiser
• 3.5mm jacks for unbalanced audio outputs for routing to an external amplifier
• 6.35mm/1/4" jacks for balanced outputs for routing to a professional mixers/amplifier

A jumper on the CGS506C board allows the outputs to be optimised for Consumer Line Level (-10dBV) (jumper fitted) or Professional Line Level (+4dBu) (jumper not fitted).

Auxiliary inputs are used to feed other signals into the outputs of the module. Signals applied here will not be affected by knobs or control voltages applied to the module. These are mainly useful for linking other mixers (either manual or voltage controlled) to the output bus.
