Octave/Transpose Switchers

These small utility PCBs mount directly on to a rotary switch allowing you to add a RANGE or TRANSPOSE function to your 1V/Octave VCO or similar 1V/Octave device. The 5U version uses a standard Lorlin rotary switch and so is better suited to larger format panels while the 3U versions use an ALPHA rotary switch making them ideal for smaller format panels.

5U Octave Switcher

The module provides up to 9 switched positions each providing a nominal 1V increment/decrement from the previous position and has a range of 0V to 8V. An Offset trimpot allows this range to be moved so that the module can provide 9 switched positions in the range -10V to +10V and thus allows the Octave Switcher to provide both negative and positive octave offsets such as -4 Octaves to +4 Octaves.

Construction Note

Please note that this designs use surface-mount components (0805 and SO-8) and so requires some additional skill to assemble.

3U Octave Switcher

This module provides 5 stepped outputs initially centred around 0V providing -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2 Octave Transpose output voltages.

An onboard trimmer allows this range to be shifted so that, for example, you could have a +1, 0, -1, -2, -3 Octave switcher
