This module lets you define the basic settings for the Drummer application as follows:-
MIDI Compliancy - This setting should be set to match the highest MIDI standard that the connected MIDI device complies with. This setting determines how Drummer will handle things like Running Status and Panic Modes.
When connected to an XG or None-MIDI standard MIDI device you will need to specifiy which channel is to be used for the Drum Channel. For GM and GS MIDIdevices this setting is determined by the MIDI Standards.
MIDI Interface Output Port - For proper operation of the connected MIDI device you wll need to specify the connection used. A MIDI Interface Unit is available seperately which provides for MIDI-IN and RS232 connected MIDI devices and minimises the number of cables, adaptors and connectors that are needed to connect your Psion to the MIDI device. If your MIDI device uses a standard RS232 port at either 38,400 or 57,500 Baud then may choose to bypass the MIDI Interface Unit. You will, however, then need to ensure that you provide the correct cable terminations, adaptors and connectors to conenct your Psion to the MIDI device. This will usually require that you will need a PsiWin cable, and NULL-MODEM Adaptor, a Gender-Changer and, possibly, a 9 to 25 pin adaptor. If this setting is set incorrectly then the MIDI connection will not operate properly, if at all, and random sounds may be generated by the MIDI device.

Connecting to your MIDI device
Most MIDI devices offer one or both of the following controller connection options:-
a standard PC RS232 port running at either 38,400 baud or 57,600 baud
a standard MIDI-IN socket.
You will only be able to operate Drummer if your MIDI device offers option (1). A seperate MIDI3c Interface Unit is available that supports all the above connection options and virtually eliminates the need for any additional cables.
Option (1) will require that supply the minimum following components to achive a working connection to your MIDI device:-
PsiWin cable
NULL-MODEM-Adaptor (this must be a proper `all connections' through adaptor)
a gender changer (male-male)
optionally, a 9-pin to 25-pin adaptor
Some MIDI devices may require additional connectors and.or adaptors but the above items should cover most standard MIDI equipment. NOTE: ALL of these functions are catered for within the MIDI3c Interface Unit.
