Main Settings

The Main settings module lets you set the main settings for the current rhythm as follows:-

Pattern A Instruments & Pattern B Instruments

Drummer lets you select up to four different instruments per patter using the General Midi range of instruments. Each of the two patterns may have the same of different instruments. Simply scroll through the list of instruments, or press <TAB> for a dropdown list.

Pattern Editor

The Pattern Editor lets you edit the contents of both patterns. When you enter the Pattern Editor the screen header will change to indicate that you are in edit mode.

A flashing cursor will also indicate your current position in the pattern, in the example above we are on beat 1 (first half-beat) of the first instrument of Pattern A.

Navigation is simply done with the use of the left/right/up/down arrow keys. There is a wrap-around function provided so when you reach.the end of a row you will then return to the end/start of the same row. Moving up and down will also move you from Pattern A to Pattern B and visa-versa.

To change the status of an instrument on a given beat, simply press the <SPACEBAR>. This will allow you to toggle the current beat item On and Off.

As you build your pattern it is desirable to listen to how it is progressing. If you are connected to a MIDI device you can `preview' the current pattern by pressing <P>. The player will repeat the current pattern until you press the <SPACEBAR>. It is important to note that if you only have one or two notes programmed that pressing the <SPACEBAR> may not terminate the player immediately - you may have to wait until the bouncing ball arrives at the next note to be played.

Once editing is complete, press <ENTER>. You will be prompted to confirm that you wish to save any changes that you have made. You may also abandon any changes by pressing <ESCAPE>.
