Baseboard
fitted in to case.
Prototype of PSU-1 installed with a toroidal transformer.
ASM-1 fitted and wired to power supply.
NOTES:
The recommended position for the ASM-1 is now in the top left-hand
corner of the baseboard as viewed in this photo. This will make
for a much shorter harness.

Wiring begins
on the panel. First all pot-pot wiring is put in.
NOTES:
I have adopted a wire-colour standard of
- Red =
+15V
- Black
= Ground
- Yellow
= -15V
The pots
I have used here are NOT recommended for panel wiring as shown
here as they have very flimsy and closely spaced legs. A superior
pot with larger solder terminals is now being used.

Wiring to
the ASM-1 pcb in place.
NOTES:
I have used multi-strand hookup wire for all control voltage
wires and single-core screened cable for all signal wires. There
is a tinned copper wire rail run around the edge of the board
(held in place by solder lugs fastened at each corner) and all
screens are terminated to this rail. You can just see the wire
about 1cm above the top edge of the pcb in the photo.

How the
unit appears when fully assembled.
NOTES:
MIDI sockets have now been moved on to a separate panel in the
rear of the case.
On/Off switch is now integrated in to the IEC socket seen bottom
right of photo. This socket includes a DPDT mains rated switch
and optional neon indicator and fuse.

ASM-2 version of the Genie. In this picture you can see a MIDI-CV
in the lower-left corner, a Raw-DC unit and toroidal transformer
in the lower-right corner and the pile of spaghetti that goes
with wiring up an ASM-x system! |
